Case Study: City Year increases AmeriCorps impact and reduces data storage costs with Microsoft Corporation Azure and HubStor

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the City Year Case Study

City Year uses Azure data archives to help increase AmeriCorps impact and efficiency

City Year, a nonprofit that supports more than 3,000 AmeriCorps members in schools across the United States, was transitioning to an all-cloud IT environment but needed to migrate over 30 terabytes of unstructured data from 15 on-premises file servers. The organization also wanted to retire legacy servers, prevent Office 365 clutter, and reduce the time its IT team spent managing old content.

Microsoft Corporation, using HubStor cloud archive powered by Microsoft Azure, helped City Year move inactive data to the cloud with policy-based migration, identity integration, and self-service access. The result was a decommissioning of more than 80 servers, archive costs cut by two-thirds, monthly storage and management costs reduced from nearly $20,000 to under $1,000, and data volume reduced from 30 terabytes to less than 8 terabytes.
