Case Study: City of Henderson cuts server provisioning from two weeks to one day with Microsoft and Gridpro

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the City of Henderson Case Study

City maximizes IT budget with private cloud and self-service server provisioning tool

The City of Henderson, a municipal government in Nevada, faced a challenge in provisioning servers for its IT projects. This manual, multi-step process took up to two weeks, creating significant delays and consuming valuable staff time. To address this, the city worked with Microsoft Corporation, deploying a Microsoft private cloud environment built on Windows Server 2012 R2, System Center 2012 R2, and Microsoft Azure Pack to automate its datacenter.

The solution was enhanced by Microsoft partner Gridpro's Request Management for Microsoft Azure Pack, which provided a self-service portal for employees to request and provision servers. This reduced the server-build process from two weeks to one day or less, dramatically accelerating project timelines. The Microsoft solution also allowed the city's existing IT staff to handle a greater workload more efficiently and provided a foundation for future scalability with a hybrid cloud model.
