Chevron Corporation, working with Microsoft Corporation and UiPath, faced a labor-intensive, error-prone process of manually extracting critical data from large, unstructured drilling and completion reports. The company needed a faster way to capture valuable operational information from PDFs so business experts could spend less time on data entry and more time on analysis and decision-making.

Microsoft Corporation implemented Form Recognizer in Azure Cognitive Services, integrated with UiPath’s robotic process automation platform, to automatically extract data and send it to back-end systems. The solution helped Chevron complete a successful proof of concept, process reports in under two minutes when confidence thresholds were met, and make data available sooner for analysis in tools like Power BI, improving speed, accuracy, and overall operational insight.
