CFD Support Ltd., a small Czech company specializing in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, faced the challenge of providing its clients with access to supercomputing power. Their mission to democratize CFD for smaller firms and researchers was limited by the high cost and complexity of high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, which was previously only available to large institutions.

The solution was implemented through Microsoft's partner, UberCloud, which provided access to HPC resources on the Microsoft Azure platform. By utilizing Azure's Intel Xeon processor-based HPC cloud service, CFD Support could run complex simulations far more efficiently; a test that took over 16 hours on 2 cores was reduced to under 3 hours using 32 cores. Microsoft Azure enabled CFD Support to offer its customers powerful, on-demand computing at a fraction of the cost of building their own infrastructure, dramatically accelerating research and innovation.
