Carlsberg Group follows a recipe for success with Microsoft Azure, SAP, and a cloud-first strategy

Carlsberg Group, the Denmark-based global beer maker, needed to modernize its IT to support a cloud-first digital strategy and reduce the burden of managing complex legacy systems, especially its core SAP environment. To do that, the company worked with Microsoft Corporation and moved datacenters, applications, and its full SAP estate to Microsoft Azure, using services such as Azure ExpressRoute, Azure Site Recovery, and SQL Server 2016.

Microsoft Corporation helped Carlsberg complete the migration of 700 servers and 350 applications, including 1.6 petabytes of data, in less than six months with no significant downtime. The move improved scalability, agility, and cost efficiency, and Carlsberg reported continued stability with no high-priority incidents while also gaining a stronger platform for future digital and IoT innovation.
