Case Study: Carlsberg Group achieves stronger security and lower costs with Microsoft Azure migration

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Carlsberg Group Case Study

Carlsberg Group adds security, lowers costs, with Azure migration including SAP

Carlsberg Group, the global brewery behind more than 140 beer brands, faced a time-sensitive datacenter exit with only 12 months left on its lease and a narrow migration window for its critical SAP systems. Working with Microsoft Corporation, Accenture, and SAP, the company needed to modernize a complex mix of legacy UNIX, DB2, and SAP workloads while keeping production disruptions to a minimum.

Microsoft Corporation helped Carlsberg migrate to Azure, including SAP on Azure Large Instances, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Site Recovery, and a modern data platform built with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and Power BI. The migration moved about 1,600 terabytes of data, consolidated infrastructure into roughly 700 Azure VMs, improved high availability and disaster recovery, and lowered costs while giving Carlsberg a scalable foundation for analytics and innovation.
