Azzimov, a Canadian independent software vendor, sought to overcome the limitations of traditional keyword search for online shopping. The standard approach delivered irrelevant results to users and provided merchants with unproductive leads. The company wanted to create a personalized, intelligent search experience that could scale massively and meet strict Canadian data residency requirements for its public sector clients. To achieve this, they turned to Microsoft and its Azure cloud platform.

By building its Intelligent Search System on Microsoft Azure, Azzimov leveraged services like Cortana and Dynamics CRM to create a cognitive commerce platform. The Microsoft solution provided the necessary scalability, integration, and compliance. The results were significant; for retailer Corbeil, the online conversion rate jumped from 0.5% to 3%, the average purchase increased, and total online sales grew by 181%. Microsoft's Canadian datacenters also enabled Azzimov to fully meet its customers' data residency needs.
