Canada’s largest construction contractor transforms onboarding with Azure AD and Xamarin forms

PCL Construction, Canada’s largest construction contractor, needed to replace a slow, paper-based onboarding process that required new hires to fill out a 60-page form in triplicate and forced HR to manually enter the data. Working with Microsoft Corporation, and using Azure Active Directory along with Azure App Service and Azure SQL Database, PCL sought a secure digital solution that could support its large workforce across many job sites.

Microsoft Corporation implemented a cross-platform Xamarin-based digital form that automatically captured employee data and connected it to PCL Construction’s existing database through Azure Mobile App Services. The new system let workers complete onboarding on any device, eliminated manual data entry, improved security with role-based access and two-step verification, and enabled real-time access to submissions, helping PCL save time and streamline onboarding across more than 700 projects.
