autoTRADER.ca, Canada’s largest automobile search site, needed a scalable way to support millions of monthly users, millions of searches, and rapidly growing mobile traffic without the burden of managing its own infrastructure. The company turned to Microsoft Azure products including Azure App Service, Azure Storage, and Azure Search to modernize its platform and improve the customer experience.

Microsoft Corporation implemented an Azure-based PaaS solution that first moved photo hosting to Azure, then powered a new dealer-to-dealer auction site with Azure SQL Database and Azure Notification Hubs, and is now replacing the consumer search engine and migrating web properties to Azure. The results included faster image delivery, a real-time mobile experience, a successful auction-site launch in about seven months, and significant infrastructure savings by eliminating server and storage maintenance while supporting growth across web and mobile.
