Bühler Group, a global leader in food processing equipment, needed a better way to improve food safety, traceability, and sustainability for its dry-food decontamination technology, Laatu. The company also wanted to replace manual, paper-based tracking with digital records and real-time machine data. To address this, Bühler Group worked with Microsoft Corporation using Azure and Azure IoT Hub.

Microsoft Corporation helped Bühler Group build the Bühler Insights IoT platform, which connects machines and captures real-time production data. The solution gives customers consistent records for every batch, improves auditing and supply chain transparency, and supports better interoperability across equipment. Bühler Insights can connect to 85% of the company’s product portfolio, and Laatu field trials showed more than 99.999% reduction of Salmonella while reducing energy use by up to 80%.
