Reuters, the global news organization, wanted to improve readers’ experience on Reuters.com and get more value from its large library of video assets. To do this, Reuters worked with Microsoft Corporation using Azure Machine Learning and Azure SQL Database to replace a slow manual matching process that could only handle a few article-video pairings per day.

Microsoft Corporation helped Reuters build a machine-learning video recommendation engine that automatically matches news articles with related videos and updates every 15 minutes. The solution increased total video views on Reuters.com by 4% in the first few months, with average video completion above 80%, while also creating stronger engagement and new revenue opportunities from previously unseen content.
