Brazilian retail powerhouse streamlines business and IT operations with Azure

Bemol, a large Brazilian retail leader, needed to modernize its on-premises SAP ERP environment to improve efficiency, reduce IT overhead, and lower infrastructure costs while maintaining reliable performance for stores and its distribution center. The company wanted more than a cloud provider, seeking a long-term business relationship as it evaluated Microsoft Corporation and Azure for its SAP workloads.

Microsoft Corporation, working with partner ITST, migrated Bemol’s ERP system to Azure using Azure ExpressRoute and Azure Virtual Machines with SSD to restore predictable performance and low latency. The move eliminated much of the manual backup and server-management work, enabled faster server configuration, and kept operations running normally; despite initial latency rising from 15 ms to 50 ms, the added connectivity and VM optimization delivered the required experience and a significant financial and IT success.
