Case Study: Centro Paula Souza strengthens student and faculty cyber protection with Microsoft Corporation

Brazilian educational system helps protect students and faculty from cyberthreats

Centro Paula Souza, a large Brazilian public education agency serving nearly 300,000 students across 300 cities, was facing a growing wave of cyberattacks including ransomware and cryptojacking. To better protect sensitive student and staff data during its move to the cloud, it worked with Microsoft Corporation and partner Redbelt, using Microsoft Azure Security Center along with Microsoft 365 Enterprise and SharePoint Online.

Microsoft Corporation implemented Azure Security Center across both cloud and on-premises environments, giving Centro Paula Souza centralized visibility into threats and security posture. The result was faster incident detection and stronger protection: the institution now captures more than 588 million security events a week and blocks 15 to 30 critical attacks weekly, including brute force attempts, while also stopping cryptojacking and ransomware without disrupting operations.
