Brazilian education network reduces running costs by 40 percent using Microsoft Azure

Adtalem Educacional do Brasil, a Brazilian higher education network with 24 campuses and more than 130,000 students, needed to modernize a complex Windows-based IT environment that powered its academic and financial ERP systems. Its infrastructure demanded heavy processing during peak periods, but sat underused at other times, driving up running costs.

Microsoft Corporation, working with partner Brasoftware, migrated the organization’s SAP and TOTVS RM systems to Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Machines, and Windows Server. The new setup enabled flexible scaling, shutdown of idle servers and environments, and use of reserved instances, resulting in a 40 percent reduction in costs with no loss of performance.
