Case Study: BP achieves digital transformation and cloud-driven efficiency with Microsoft Corporation and Azure

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the BP Case Study

BP embraces digital transformation and the cloud to disrupt the energy industry

BP, the global energy company, was facing the dual challenge of reducing carbon emissions while meeting rising global energy demand. To accelerate its digital transformation and improve safety, agility, and innovation, BP partnered with Microsoft Corporation and adopted a cloud-first strategy using Microsoft Azure and related services.

Microsoft Corporation implemented a hybrid, cloud-first architecture that included Azure, Azure Security Center, Azure Policy, Azure Cost Management, Azure Stack, Microsoft 365, and Azure Machine Learning. BP moved away from physical datacenters, improved governance and security, and is on track to make its IT operations carbon-neutral; the company estimates 60% of IT carbon output came from datacenters, and the shift to cloud and modern workplace tools is helping reduce that impact.
