A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
The New Zealand Ministry of Education needed to modernize access for 70,000 users across 24 legacy business applications, but its aging identity and access management system was out of support, key infrastructure was nearing end of life, and the project faced a tight deadline, a fixed budget, and skeptical stakeholders. Microsoft Corporation’s Azure Active Directory B2C was selected as the cloud-based solution to bridge the old applications to a new identity platform without costly redevelopment.
Microsoft Corporation implemented Azure AD B2C to translate between the legacy apps and the new identity provider, enabling the ministry to upgrade its operating system and infrastructure while keeping existing applications running. The project was completed on time and on budget, with minimal disruption to users, and it later won the 2018 Public Sector Project of the Year Award.
