Avanade balances data security and employee privacy with Microsoft Intune

Avanade, a global consulting firm and Microsoft Gold Partner, faced a challenge securing corporate data on employee-owned mobile devices while respecting user privacy. While rolling out Microsoft Intune for mobile device management (MDM), its employees, concerned about corporate access to their personal data, began intentionally disconnecting from corporate email. This created a significant risk as a mobile workforce would lose access to critical communication and meeting reminders, threatening productivity.

Microsoft's solution was to implement Intune's Mobile Application Management (MAM) without device enrollment. This approach protected company data within specific applications without managing the entire device, alleviating privacy concerns. The solution allowed Avanade to use features like selective wipe to remove only corporate data. Microsoft's rapid development cadence meant feedback from Avanade was incorporated into the product quickly, resulting in a robust and simple-to-use security solution that protected data without compromising the employee experience.
