A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
The Port Authority of New South Wales, a state-owned corporation managing commercial maritime operations on Australia's east coast, faced a significant IT challenge. Following a merger that consolidated five ports, it needed to modernize its infrastructure, migrate three domains into one, and manage 200 servers and 80TB of data. Seeking a flexible and scalable architecture to replace costly and time-consuming on-premises upgrades, the Port Authority turned to Microsoft and its Azure cloud services for a solution.
Partnering with Microsoft and its partner cubesys, the Port Authority implemented a solution using Microsoft Azure, including Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and Azure ExpressRoute. This migration to the cloud resulted in a more flexible and scalable IT architecture, improved disaster recovery, and better visibility over their hybrid environment. The move shifted the organization's financial model from capital expenditure to operational expenditure, providing a cost-effective, agile platform ready for future expansion.
