Audi technology partner EFS uses deep learning to analyze roads for self-driving vehicles

EFS, Audi’s chassis-development partner in Germany, was researching autonomous driving and needed a way to analyze high-resolution road images with deep learning. The company turned to Microsoft Corporation and Azure NC-series virtual machines powered by NVIDIA Tesla P100 GPUs to prove the concept before moving into product development.

Microsoft Corporation helped EFS build a deep learning solution using Azure compute and storage services, including Blob and Disk storage, to process large training datasets efficiently. The project was successful, and EFS reported that it proved deep learning could analyze roads at large scale for self-driving vehicles, a major milestone for its Audi research program.
