Archive on demand: With Microsoft Azure, UFA is creating an archive fit for the future

UFA, a German media and telecommunications company, faced high operating and deployment costs for its growing digital archive and needed a more scalable way to deliver content on demand. Working with Microsoft Corporation and Azure Media Services, UFA began consolidating its archive and distribution processes in the Microsoft Azure cloud, with the goal of making the archive available across all platforms and eventually moving the full production workflow to the cloud.

Microsoft Corporation helped implement an “archive on demand” solution through Azure, integrated with a VOD platform built by Interlake and nexx.tv. The result was lower costs, improved scalability, and multi-device playback for UFA content, while also opening new monetization opportunities through Microsoft Cognitive Services and creating a more future-ready distribution model.
