Ambit Energy, a fast-growing U.S. retail energy provider, needed to match its rapid software delivery with equally fast infrastructure provisioning as it expanded into new markets. Working with Microsoft Corporation and Azure services, Ambit also had to support a hybrid cloud model, keep costs low in a hyper-competitive market, and avoid delays from owning and operating its own datacenters.

Microsoft Corporation helped Ambit move infrastructure into Azure using services like Azure Container Service, Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage, and Visual Studio Team Services, along with infrastructure as code and open source tools such as Terraform and Puppet. The result was production releases 20 to 30 times per day, new-market infrastructure stood up in as little as two to three weeks, and total costs were 22 percent lower, helping Ambit improve agility, reliability, and competitiveness.
