Case Study: Air Canada achieves employee collaboration and cloud productivity with Microsoft Corporation

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Air Canada Case Study

Air Canada employees use the cloud to learn, share, develop ideas and collaborate

Air Canada needed to equip 27,000 globally dispersed employees—many of whom work away from desks and across time zones—with modern tools to improve collaboration, communication, and access to operational information. To support its digital transformation, Air Canada adopted Microsoft Corporation’s Office 365 cloud suite, including Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online, and Yammer.

Microsoft Corporation helped Air Canada build ACaeronet, an employee portal that delivers role-based information, powerful search, and access to more than 100 tools, applications, and data repositories. The solution improved employee collaboration and problem-solving through mobile access and social communication, while also reducing IT overhead and costs. Measurable benefits included 1 TB of cloud storage per employee and a jump from 50 MB to 50 GB mailboxes, giving Air Canada 1,000 times more email capacity.
