Case Study: ABBYY achieves scalable social networking performance with Microsoft Corporation Azure Service Fabric

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the ABBYY Case Study

ABBYY's social networking service evolves on Azure Service Fabric

ABBYY, a large software company in Russia, needed to modernize its Lingvo Live social networking service for language learners without rewriting decades-old legacy code all at once. The app’s original datacenter setup made even small updates difficult, limited scalability, and caused slow performance for users outside Russia, so ABBYY turned to Microsoft Corporation and Azure Service Fabric.

Microsoft Corporation helped ABBYY rearchitect Lingvo Live on Azure using Service Fabric, Azure Traffic Manager, Azure CDN, and Azure virtual machines, enabling a gradual move to microservices, independent component updates, and zero-downtime upgrades. The new setup improved availability and global response times, eliminated the need to overprovision servers for traffic spikes, and gave ABBYY a flexible, scalable platform for continued modernization.
