A new foundation for connected business processes at a German pharmaceutical and chemical company

Microsoft helped Merck KGaA, a major German pharmaceutical and chemical company, replace its fragmented and outdated collaboration and communication tools, including Lotus Notes and IBM Sametime. The solution involved deploying Microsoft Office 365, including Exchange Online and Office 365 ProPlus, as part of a companywide program. Microsoft's technology provided a new integrated platform for email, chat, and document collaboration. The results were highly positive, with over 36,000 employees migrated smoothly and feedback from users being very favorable. The rollout, planned for completion in just 11 months, established a new foundation aimed at enhancing productivity and reducing operating costs across the global organization.
