Microsoft helped 3M, a global science and manufacturing company, overcome its challenge of disconnected collaboration systems that slowed down internal and external connections. The company needed a solution to enable seamless collaboration across its large, diverse workforce and to simplify a major upgrade from its outdated Office 2007 software.

The solution from Microsoft centered on deploying Office 365 ProPlus via a self-service portal, which allowed for a rapid and user-driven rollout. This approach enabled 3M to deploy the software to over 60,000 employees and nearly 6,000 mobile devices in just four months. Microsoft's solution resulted in a massive uptake of OneDrive for Business, which was storing 9 TB of data and growing by half a terabyte per week, and empowered sales teams to work from any device without document fidelity issues.
