Veena World, a tours-and-travel company founded in 2013, ran its website, ERP (ITMS) and databases on Azure virtual machines to avoid large upfront IT costs. As the business and peak-season traffic grew, the existing VMs became strained—website and ITMS performance degraded, RAM was maxed out, and the company worried about database availability, potential downtime and data loss.

Microsoft partner Synergetics assessed the environment and recommended targeted changes instead of the proposed costly 16-core/112GB VM: a dedicated database server, an Azure web farm, migration from Exchange Server to Office 365, and an AlwaysOn SQL Availability Groups setup for high availability and continuous backups. The result was faster, more reliable application and website performance, improved database uptime and data protection, and lower overall cost than upgrading to an oversized VM.
