Universal Technical Institute (UTI), a U.S.-based technical school serving the automotive, diesel, motorcycle and marine industries, faced the challenge of aligning student program preferences with employers’ skills requirements to ensure graduates were hire-ready. Balancing curriculum development with employer apprenticeship needs across multiple trades was complex and required a unified way to manage student and industry relationships.

UTI deployed a Microsoft cloud-based infrastructure—using Azure and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online (Dynamics 365 for Sales)—to centralize data and workflows between students and employers. The solution enabled the school to design student-driven programs, coordinate employer-led apprenticeships, and better match graduates to industry demand, improving placement outcomes and employer engagement.
