Case Study: Bahrain Olympic Committee achieves digital transformation, open-data access and mission-critical financial insight with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Case Study

Unique and powerful use of cloud sets innovative new standards in the public sector

The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), a 110‑person public‑sector body responsible for developing sports and supporting 27 associations, needed better insight and efficiency than its legacy spreadsheets and siloed systems could provide. Its goals were to centralize disparate data, improve project and infrastructure management, enable mobile access for executives, and publish open data for the public and partner organizations.

BOC built a hybrid data center on Microsoft Azure using Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Power BI and SharePoint to centralize data, deliver mobile BI dashboards, and launch an open‑data platform with a gamified league to encourage association participation. The rapid, cost‑effective deployment gave executives mission‑critical financial insight, improved decision making and planning, expanded public access to sports data, and created a scalable, first‑of‑its‑kind model for the region’s public sector.
