Case Study: UNICEF achieves scalable child protection case management with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the UNICEF Case Study

UNICEF and Microsoft scale Azure-based platform Primero to empower social workers and help more children

UNICEF, working with Microsoft Azure, needed to scale its Primero child protection case-management tool to better support social workers across more than 190 countries. The existing on-premises setup was costly, slow to deploy, and difficult to maintain, especially during emergencies, while each local instance had to be updated separately.

Microsoft Azure helped UNICEF and Quoin rebuild Primero as Primero X, a secure open-source web app and SaaS platform using Azure-based infrastructure. The result was faster deployment in as little as 20 minutes instead of two to three weeks, easier centralized updates, improved mobile access for field workers, and stronger data privacy and security. The platform has already supported more than 100,000 vulnerable children in 28 countries and is being expanded to reach many more.
