A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Honeywell Building Solutions, a global leader in building automation and energy efficiency, manages thousands of HVAC, lighting, and safety systems across commercial, municipal, and industrial facilities. Although field sensors collected 20–40 data points per device, Honeywell lacked a fast, scalable way to analyze that telemetry in real time—limiting its ability to deliver predictive maintenance, timely fault alerts, and the energy and cost savings customers expected.
Honeywell moved its IoT streams to Microsoft Azure—using Event Hubs, Service Bus, Table Storage, and Stream Analytics—so sensors send per-minute messages to cloud jobs that detect anomalies and trigger dashboard alerts. The cloud solution required no hardware, delivered results within weeks, cut development time and overhead (new streaming jobs in minutes), and enabled hundreds of analytics to drive real-time fault detection, energy savings, extended equipment life, and new service opportunities.
