Thomson Reuters moves e-billing solution to cloud, builds highly extensible and scalable system for customers

Thomson Reuters, a global provider of news and information for professional markets, needed to modernize its eBillingHub electronic invoicing solution to better serve law firms with greater scale, automation, and self-service capabilities. Its legacy hosted infrastructure struggled to meet the demands of a global customer base, especially during billing-cycle spikes, so Thomson Reuters turned to Microsoft Azure to support a more flexible, cloud-based architecture.

Using Microsoft Azure services including Azure Service Fabric, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and Azure Active Directory, Thomson Reuters automated invoice validation, submission, tracking, and reporting while improving security and scalability. The new system processed 2.5 million invoices in its first three months, helped one customer move 28,000 invoices worth $250,000 from validation to paid status in under two hours, and scaled across 30 Azure regions to support faster innovation and deployment.
