Case Study: Seattle Seahawks achieves a scalable, Super Bowl-ready website that handled 1M+ hits with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Seattle Seahawks Case Study

The Seahawks’ Russell Wilson needed a website that would perform under pressure. He got it.

Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, needed his website—www.russellwilson3.com—to perform flawlessly during Super Bowl weekend so it could drive awareness and support for his foundation and youth programs. The challenge was handling massive, media-heavy traffic while ensuring high availability, responsiveness, and disaster recovery for the site at peak demand.

The site was hosted on Microsoft Azure App Service and optimized by Microsoft engineers and Cortex using the I/AM product: images and code were tuned, three snapshots were deployed across U.S. datacenters, and autoscaling was configured for redundancy and performance. The result: the site handled more than 1 million hits during the event with the availability and responsiveness needed to support Wilson’s causes.
