Technology distributor finds key to optimizing customers' cloud spend

Westcon-Comstor, a large global technology distributor and Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider, needed to help its reseller customers—and its own internal teams—gain visibility and control over multi-cloud usage and spend. As cloud adoption accelerated, customers were unsure how to forecast consumption or avoid overspending, so Westcon-Comstor sought a single tool to monitor, allocate, and optimize cloud costs across providers.

The company implemented Azure Cost Management by Cloudyn, a multi-cloud cost-management SaaS that delivers real-time monitoring, granular analytics, custom billing, alerting, and reserved‑instance impact analysis. The solution gave resellers a single, multi-tenant view of customer consumption, enabled accurate forecasting and automated alerts (including early detection of malicious spikes), supported funding of reserved instances to realize ~30–40% savings, and helped Westcon-Comstor optimize its own dev/test environments to stay on budget.
