A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Talion, a UK-based managed security services provider, delivers security orchestration, threat intelligence and incident response for commercial and government clients. Its legacy stack caused expensive hosting, slow client onboarding (taking a week or more), storage capacity limits, frequent query timeouts and limited customer visibility—turning parts of its log management into a “black box.”
After a 2019 proof of concept, Talion adopted Azure Data Explorer (ADX) to provide per-tenant databases, long‑term retention and customer-facing dashboards powered by Kusto Query Language. The move cut long‑term storage costs by 75%, reduced onboarding from a week to a day or less, shrank scaling and capacity work from days to hours, enabled near‑instant scaling and richer analytics (Threat Hunting, UEBA), and delivered greater transparency and self‑service access for clients.
