Milliman, a global actuarial and consulting firm serving the insurance industry, confronted the limits of legacy risk-modeling systems as data volumes, regulatory complexity, and compressed reporting timelines increased. The firm needed a way to run compute- and data-intensive actuarial workloads on demand, scale resources without heavy IT overhead, and deliver trusted, auditable insights to decision makers.

Milliman built Integrate on Microsoft Azure—using Data Factory, HDInsight, SQL Server, Azure Analysis Services, and Power BI Embedded—to orchestrate ETL, scale compute in a pay-as-you-go model, and embed rich, self-service BI with enterprise security. The platform slashed manual tasks (from 900 to 44 for one client), cut quarterly reporting from four months to three days, paid for itself three times over in three years, and enabled faster, more confident risk management and decision making.
