Taking a new look at retail: interactive digital displays drive profits up 40 percent

Cloverleaf developed shelfPoint to help brick-and-mortar retailers compete with the targeting and personalization advantages of online shopping. Retailers face the twin challenges of grabbing shopper attention in-store and improving thin profit margins; Cloverleaf set out to deliver an affordable, easy-to-deploy solution that increases engagement and drives higher-margin sales without replacing existing fixtures.

shelfPoint is a dynamic LCD display that retrofits to shelf fronts, using optical sensors and emotional-AI to collect anonymous age/gender and proximity data, with content decisions processed in the cloud on a Windows 10 IoT and Azure platform. Brands and store managers can push or change targeted content in real time; pilots across grocery, convenience, and pharmacy channels produced a 500% jump in shopper engagement and roughly a 40% increase in profits while reducing reliance on promotional discounts.
