A Microsoft Azure Case Study
T-Systems, a global information and communication technology leader, needed a way to deliver real-time insights from virtually any machine or device despite challenges like proprietary sensor formats, intermittent connectivity, and the need to scale for large enterprises. To accelerate customer deployments and simplify integration across industries (manufacturing, transportation, automotive, etc.), they sought a flexible, PaaS-based approach that could standardize data ingestion, decoding, and analysis.
Working with partner daenet, T-Systems built a multitenant IoT platform on Microsoft Azure using IoT Hub, Event Hubs, App Service, Service Bus, Azure Machine Learning, and Power BI, plus a custom Protocol Adapter Service to normalize proprietary protocols and a GSM-enabled microchip option for low-power mobile connectivity. The solution automates provisioning, scales on demand, enables predictive-maintenance and analytics dashboards, and—launched seven months ago—already supports 200 customers while cutting infrastructure onboarding to about ten minutes.
