A Microsoft Azure Case Study
AppPoint, a 45‑person independent software vendor based in Bengaluru, needed to deliver a cloud-based version of its model-driven process automation platform that could integrate with customers’ on-premises systems. A key challenge came from Biocon, a large Indian biotech, which relied on a manual, paper-based artwork management process that was slow, error-prone, and risked costly recalls—prompting demand for a secure, integrated cloud solution.
AppPoint rebuilt its platform on Microsoft Azure (AppsOnAzure) and used Azure web and worker roles, Blob Storage, SQL Azure, caching, and Service Bus to connect to Biocon’s Microsoft Dynamics ERP, delivering an automated artwork management system in eight weeks. The cloud approach cut time-to-market versus an estimated 8–10 months for an on‑premises build, lowered infrastructure barriers for customers, opened new markets through the Microsoft partner ecosystem, and positioned AppPoint to offer 20 additional cloud solutions.
