A Microsoft Azure Case Study
OpenText, a global leader in Enterprise Information Management with about 12,000 employees, faced growing sales friction as its demonstrations and proofs of concept became increasingly complex—often requiring SAP HANA and multiple integrated systems. On-premises demo setups caused latency, took days to provision, and strained limited server capacity, jeopardizing the company’s ability to show product value during customer engagements.
OpenText moved its demo environments to Microsoft Azure, creating TestDrive for single-product demos and IDEA2 for large, integrated scenarios running SAP HANA on Azure (hundreds of VMs, hundreds of cores, terabytes of RAM). The cloud solution cut provisioning time from days to minutes, delivered global low-latency demos, enabled consumption-based costing and analytics, and dramatically lowered demo costs (for example, an $800 proof-of-concept that supported a $10M deal). OpenText is now expanding offerings, adding self-serve demos and marketplace packaging.
