Case Study: Grundfos achieves water and cost savings through predictive, scalable pump management with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Grundfos Case Study

Smart moves help save water, money … and the planet

Grundfos, a global leader in advanced pumping solutions that produces over 16 million energy‑efficient pumps a year, is committed to improving the full water cycle and advancing UN Sustainable Development Goal #6. However, its legacy on‑premises monitoring system—multiple firmware versions, siloed data, and heavy coding requirements—created a large support burden and prevented efficient remote command, control, and predictive services.

Grundfos moved to Microsoft Azure using Azure IoT Hub, Azure IoT Edge, Azure IoT solution accelerators and Dynamics 365 to collect real‑time sensor data, perform remote firmware updates, and synthesize insights for predictive maintenance and leak detection. The result is a scalable, secure platform that cuts maintenance time and costs, connects legacy pumps to modern services, and enables new offerings that improve water management, disaster response and customer value.
