Preview of the Smart Factories Case Study

Smart Factories introduces tomorrow's innovators to Industry 4.0

Smart Factories is a Swedish collaboration between higher education and industry designed to introduce tomorrow’s innovators to Industry 4.0. Facing low awareness of industrial digitalization and a shortage of the right competencies, the initiative needed a practical, scalable way to show how modern factory technologies can be used and to attract talent into industrial careers.

Built with Microsoft Azure (Cloud and IoT Hub) and immersive technologies like HoloLens, AI, IoT and VR — and delivered in partnership with Cybercom Sweden and industry mentors — the program provides hands-on factory scenarios supervised by leading companies. It has increased awareness of Industry 4.0, strengthened relevant skills, made technology careers in manufacturing more attractive, and created a powerful bridge between education and industry to boost competitiveness and job growth.
