Security team safeguards petabytes of video data with hybrid cloud storage solution

Microsoft Global Security, which protects Microsoft’s global facilities from operations centers in Redmond and Hyderabad, faced a growing data challenge: 23,000 cameras and 1,000 NVRs produce roughly 14 petabytes of surveillance video that was stored only on‑premises, creating single points of failure, compliance and retention risks, and difficulty scaling for variable workloads.

The solution was quick to deploy, gave investigators seamless remote access, cut administrative overhead and on‑prem hardware needs, improved disaster recovery and data‑loss protection, and provided scalable, pay‑for‑what‑you‑use storage — prompting plans for broader rollout.
