A Microsoft Azure Case Study
The Seattle Seahawks partnered with Microsoft to turn scattered performance and health data into actionable insights so they could accelerate rehabilitation, monitor in-practice performance, and personalize training for each player. The challenge was to give coaches and athletes a clear, near-real-time picture of fitness and recovery—so players like cornerback DeShawn Shead could safely return from major injury and staff could make better game- and practice-time decisions.
Microsoft’s Sports Performance Platform, built on Azure and using Power BI and Surface devices, aggregates GPS and sensor data plus player self-reports into intuitive dashboards and tailored training plans. The result is faster, more transparent rehab and training (helping Shead’s recovery), higher player engagement with their own metrics, and a stronger, data-driven competitive edge for the team.
