Search Provider Embraces the Cloud, Scales Up Performance, Cuts Costs

Getit Infomedia is an Indian digital marketplace and local-search platform that connects some 6 million SMEs to consumers through print, voice, web and mobile channels. Facing hypergrowth (10–15% monthly), a 100-fold expected rise in data, and an aging, fragmented on‑premises estate of ~70 servers with frequent downtime and rising operational costs, the company needed a more scalable, lower‑complexity infrastructure to deliver fast, reliable portals and voice services.

Getit migrated 25 workloads (including askme.com, getit.in, Yellow Pages, search services, CRM and ERP) to Microsoft Azure and adopted Office 365, eliminating on‑site servers by January 2014. The move cut overall costs by about 30% (with some apps seeing monthly savings of 70%), reduced page load times from 7–8s to under 2s and CRM lookup times from ~45s to 1.5s (up to 400% performance gains), delivered near‑zero downtime, one‑person cloud operations (vs. 12 previously) and on‑demand scalability to support rapid growth.
