Russian techwear brand turns to NFC-powered retail blockchain

Cloudburst, a Moscow-based techwear designer and maker of urban clothing, set out to make its garments “smart” and address growing business challenges: deepening direct customer engagement across sales channels, eliminating counterfeit products, and tracking each item from production through recycling. The company needed a secure, scalable way to communicate product provenance and customer data without maintaining its own infrastructure.

Working with Verisium, Cloudburst embedded NFC chips in every item and deployed an Azure-backed IoT and Quorum blockchain solution (using Azure AD, Key Vault, AKS and Azure Monitor) to enable product authentication and data-driven customer interactions. The result was a 40% rise in sales in the first six months, stronger customer loyalty and reseller efficiency, and increased brand visibility—including appearances in music videos by major Russian rap artists.
