A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Blue Frog Robotics, a small Paris-based developer of the companion robot Buddy, needed an efficient, secure, and predictable cloud data-management system to support device telemetry, user context, and a growing third‑party developer ecosystem. The company required an architecture that would scale from its initial rollout while keeping per-robot operating costs low and protecting personal data collected by the robot and its mobile app.
Blue Frog implemented a split architecture on Microsoft Azure: context and profile data go to Azure Blob storage, high-frequency telemetry is ingested via Azure Event Hubs, processed with Azure Stream Analytics, and stored for search and visualization using Azure Data Lake Analytics and Power BI; Azure Functions provide secure shared access signatures. The result is a scalable, cost‑effective solution with modest per‑robot monthly costs that can support thousands of Buddys and enable expanded services from Blue Frog and third‑party developers.
