RCS MediaGroup becomes a cloud-based company using open source on Microsoft Azure

RCS MediaGroup is a leading Italian international media publisher operating across newspapers, magazines, TV and digital channels. The company’s infrastructure is largely open source (CentOS, GlusterFS, Java, WordPress) and must support large, spiky production cycles while keeping hundreds of gigabytes of content highly available and secure.

With Microsoft and partners Avanade and Accenture, RCS migrated key WordPress sites—including Gazzetta.it and Corriere.it—to Microsoft Azure, adopting a cloud-based approach that preserves open source technologies. The move delivered on-demand scalability, improved availability and security, and better cost control, minimizing the impact of infrastructure on core publishing operations.
