Raley’s uses Azure Spring Cloud to optimize, scale, and drive innovation

Raley’s, a Sacramento-based regional grocery chain, needed to modernize its Java-powered e-commerce sites on Microsoft Azure while reducing technical debt, improving scalability, and meeting a tight pre-Thanksgiving deadline. With online grocery demand surging during the pandemic and a lean IT team, the company wanted a more efficient way to handle infrastructure, deployments, and peak holiday traffic.

Microsoft Azure implemented Azure Spring Cloud, along with Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Repos, Azure Pipelines, and Azure Monitor, to move Raley’s to a fully managed, microservices-based CI/CD model with automated deployments, monitoring, and autoscaling. The result was a launch two weeks ahead of schedule, record-breaking e-commerce sales, and no outages during the holiday season, while enabling faster feature delivery and lower operational burden.
