Radiology clinics ease compliance, drive innovation with cloud-based data network

Zwanger–Pesiri Radiology, a Long Island provider with 21 full-service imaging clinics and 950 employees, faced clinical, compliance, and business challenges: manual, error-prone recording of radiation doses that risked ACR certification, lack of aggregated benchmarks across sites and machines, difficulty sharing data securely under HIPAA, and pressure to control costs and improve throughput.

To address this, Zwanger–Pesiri deployed Siemens teamplay on Microsoft Azure, automating dose and usage data collection for 50+ CT and MRI scanners into HIPAA-compliant datacenters. Using teamplay Dose and Usage dashboards they standardized protocols, reduced radiation exposure, simplified compliance, improved scanner utilization (raising MRI throughput from about two to three patients per hour), lowered costs, and opened new opportunities for collaboration and revenue.
