A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Rackspace, a large managed cloud provider serving thousands of customers including more than half of the Fortune 100, needed a unified, secure, and highly customizable way to monitor multicloud workloads after adding Microsoft Azure to its offerings. The challenge was to provide a single pane of glass for real‑time, per‑customer reporting and alerting, hyper‑scalability, automated onboarding, and integration with Rackspace’s proprietary incident management and ticketing system—without the overhead of additional hardware or complex on‑premises infrastructure.
Rackspace implemented Microsoft Operations Management Suite (OMS) Log Analytics and Azure Monitor, building a lightweight intermediary webhook service to feed alerts into its ticketing system and using ARM templates to automate workspace deployment. The SaaS solution delivered native Azure security, per‑customer alerts and automated runbook remediation, self‑service real‑time reporting, rapid onboarding (minutes per customer), and no extra hardware costs—enabling monitoring of thousands of VMs and hundreds of terabytes while improving operational responsiveness and customer confidence.
